Final

1)“We Real Cool”
This poem has a powerful message behind it. Gwendolyn Brooks illustrates the essence of troubled teenagers who will eventually suffer the ill-fated of others in their surrounding possibly if they continue their bad lifestyle. The theme influences me because the boys mention in the poem think their cool by skipping school, drinking, and playing pool but their really not. If they keep continuing this pattern then they cannot get nowhere in life and just end up being homeless with no job and with no education. As for the moment they are feeling good but at the end of the road they’re going to end up dead.

2)“Harlem”
The theme of Harlem by Langston Hughes is frustration. The poem signifies that Hughes undergoes the deep frustrations he suffered and warns of the future, with a threat of violence. With that final line of the poem, he was issuing a threat. After reading the poem over and over again, this helped me understand the images conjured by that one word "explode" contain the promise of chaos. The noise, smells and sights of dreadful destruction are in there. To actually get the meaning of this poem Hughes uses the metaphors, with sensory images to get a message at all. No doubt at all, this poem is also very powerful to me.
